by Q: How do I correct topping the ball....

Q: I am 46 years old and play to a 9-10 . I play Titleist 962's 1-sw,I have a Great Big Bertha 10 degree and a Taylor Made Ti2 10.5 and a Tight Lies 16 degree 3 wood. The shafts are all stiff or firm flex in the irons and woods. I was tested on a machine last week and the driver speed was 135 and most iron shots were 95 to 99.

My question is that I have a tendency to get over the top and rush and get a fade with the 3-4- 5-irons. But the drivers I use to much right hand and my divots with 1-2-3 irons are going right or cutting across the ball. Now the same is true of the drivers, my question would be is there something I can do to straighten these, or play a draw. I have a strong grip on all the clubs. I went and fitted the 962's and the pro told me I needed standard length and lie. Any suggestions ? - Larry Breece

A: First of all could I borrow some of that club head speed! We're talking tour speed here.

As for your "over the top" problem. Over the top is caused when the shoulders turn too soon at the start of the down swing. You should try feeling as though you keep you right shoulder back as you start your down swing to help you to swing more under than over. Thanks for the Question.
